Cheadle and District Historical Society Talk: North Staffordshire Code Breakers at RAF Cheadle in WW2
Thursday, 17th September (7.30pm)
The speaker will be Jeff Neat, who will be talking about the vital work carried out at RAF Cheadle (Woodhead Hall) during WW2 and it’s connection to Bletchley Park.
The venue for the talk is the New Life Church on Tape Street, starting at 7.30pm. Entry fee is £3 for non-Historical Society Members.
October:
WW2 Cheadle Memories Day
Saturday, 10th October (10am – 2pm)
As part of our National Lottery funded project “WW2 Spirit and Hope of Cheadle “we invite you to share your memories (or those of relations or friends) of WW2 Cheadle at Cheadle’s Community Library.
We are especially interested in finding out what life was like for children, mothers and others eg farmers who remained in Cheadle while the service men were at war. We are also compiling a list of WW2 servicemen from Cheadle and area (including those who returned).
Cheadle and District Historical Society Talk: Reginald Mitchell & The Journey to the Spitfire
Thursday, 15th October (7.30pm)
The speaker will be Joseph Perry from the Stoke-on-Trent Museum Service. His talk will give an overview of Reginald Mitchell’s career, cover the evolution of the Spitfire and then focus on the story of the Hanley Museum Spitfire, RW388.
The venue for the talk is the New Life Church on Tape Street, starting at 7.30pm. Entry fee is £3 for non-Historical Society Members.
