Preservation work in Cheadle Graveyard

Cheadle Discovery Group is currently working towards having some preservation work done on the Grade II listed Grosvenor Memorial in the graveyard. This requires permission from both Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and the Lichfield Diocese. The officials at St Giles the Abbot are assisting the group with gaining the required permission.

At the same time, it’s hoped that we will be able to check there is no underground damage to the vault of the nearby Griffin Memorial. This work will require separate permission and may be cost prohibitive at this time.

A grant has been secured from the Moorlands Partnership Board to carry out this work which will now take place in 2024. Some match funding is required for this, which will be raised before work starts.
